Customer: I was thinking of using your printer to print heat transfers in-house.
Can I print on rolls of heat transfer carriers, instead of placing two heat transfers on the flatbed? How much would the printer cost, that can do this? And how much are the inks and transfers? And should I buy your heat transfer machine to transfer the heat transfers to decks?
2HEX: Regarding the 2HEX Ink 2 Product Printer:
Here is a comparison of 2HEX’ printer VS two very popular printers on the market:
https://2hex.com/flatbeduvprinter/blog/choosing-the-right-uv-flatbed-printer-a-comparison-of-top-models
The quality of our printer is very high. You will be happy with it!
It has clear benefits over other printers, like being able to print on heat transfers, and printing on higher products, while having a very high resolution, clarity, vibrancy, and print speed.
If you want to be able to be able to add a role of heat transfer film, you will need two of the UV HX-2 PRO prints heads.

In that configuration, the printer is 13,490 USD.
If you want the cheapest option, that has no option to add rolls of film, you can place two or three transfers at a time on the flatbed and use one lower cost print head, then you are at 8990 USD.
On this page you can see print samples: https://2hex.com/flatbeduvprinter/blog/2hex-digital-skateboard-printer
The quality is extremely high, comparable to high quality photo prints.
Regarding the resolution and printing speed: we made changes to the printer in 2024, and the numbers above are from our older model. It might have changed since, and I am just checking with my team for the newest numbers.
Here are the old numbers:
The printing speed is around 24.7 ft²/hr when using the HX-2 Pro print head.
The resolution is 1440 x 2880 DPI.
To print on heat transfers, you will need:
- blank heat transfer film with release agent. 30 meters (26cm wide) 24$
- UV transfer ink 330 ml 35$
- and a white back coating that must be sprayed on over the printed heat transfer 1 Liter, 38$
If you want thousands of heat transfers per design and you can wait 3 to 4 weeks for the production and airfreight, it’s cheaper you buy screen printed heat transfers from 2HEX.
Regarding the Transfer Machine:
You can see all options and info here:
https://2hex.com/skateboards-manufacturer/skateboard-heat-transfer-machine-factory-configurator
The most basic machine is 7950 USD. But to use it inside the U.S. it needs a different construction, which makes the production more expensive. The machine you need for within the U.S. would be 9756 USD.
The safety add ons of this machine are super important to protect workers against getting injured. It has multiple safety stops and functions for fast reactions in different scenarios.
Other machines from other manufacturers can either not be stopped (to prevent the machine from burning), or they can be stopped but then the machine will heat the roller from one side and start burning. We have an easy to reach button that stops the roller from turning just for as long as you press it down (to release a persons hair stuck in the gears for example). Or two safety bars that if your hands get caught between the rollers, you can just step against the machine and your hands a freed. These are just two examples of the many safety mechanisms we added, for the many risks coming from using a heat transfer machine that operates at such high temperatures.
Both machines have very competitive prices compared to the provided quality.
