How to Print on Skateboard Decks, Longboards, Mini Cruisers, and Components
How to print on longboard decks?
Using 2HEX Ink2Product in combination with the UV HX-2 Pro Printhead, you can print directly on straight longboard decks that have no kick or concave deeper than 7mm. Simply place the deck on the 2HEX Ink2Product UV Flatbed Printer, print a white base and then print over it in color.
Let it dry for a few minutes, and your deck is ready to be packed and sold!
How to print on mini cruiser decks?

What do I need to buy to print skateboard heat transfers?
1. 2HEX Ink2Product Industrial UV Flatbed Printer
2. 2HEX UV inks in 4 colors C, M, Y and K.
3. White transfer ink
4. Unprinted Heat transfers
5. A spray-gun (alternatively a wall paint roller works too)

How to print on skateboard heat transfers?
Take a blank 2HEX Ink2Product heat transfer, place it on 2HEX Ink2Product printer with the release-side facing up. Print on the heat transfer using Ink2Product inks (do not print white) and let it dry for a bit. Use a simple spray-gun, fill it with 2HEX’ white transfer ink, and spray a thin but opaque layer over your print. Let it dry and your skateboard heat transfer is ready!

How much does it cost to print skateboard heat transfers?
2HEX UV inks are about 35 USD per 330ml, 1L color ink lasts 70 SQM
2HEX white transfer ink is about 38 USD per 1000ml, 1L white transfer ink lasts 35 SQM
2HEX 36 unprinted heat transfers are roughly 24 USD. That’s a 30m roll (10“ wide)
4 x 330ml CMYK inks (one set of inks) = 92 SQM = about 552 Heat Transfers (~0.25 USD / heat transfer)
1 x 1000ml white transfer ink = 35 SQM = about 210 Heat Transfers (~0.18 USD / heat transfer)
1 x Roll of blank 2HEX heat transfers = 36 Transfers (~0.67 USD / heat transfer)
Therefor, in total you are looking at a rough total material cost of 1.10 USD per skateboard heat transfer.

Can I get cheaper Ink?
The transferability of this ink is the main cost driver. Ink that can be printed directly on products is 2/3rd of the cost of the transfer ink.
Please note that the 2 types of inks cannot be mixed. Changing inks means buying a new Print Head and new Ink Supply Cables.
How much does it cost to print on a skateboard deck?
Let’s calculate the cost of printing on the wheelbase of a skateboard deck using 2HEX Ink2Product UV Flatbed printer.
The wheelbase of an 8“ deck from 2HEX is 14.25“. Therefor the total print area is 8“ x 14.25“ = 114 in² (735 cm² or 0.07m²)
0.07m² of colored ink is 0.11 USD.
0.07m² of white base ink is 0.11 USD.
Therefor, the total material cost is roughly 0.22 USD / deck.
Can I print on a complete longboard deck using 2HEX’ Ink2Product UV Flatbed Printer?
Yes, if the deck is mostly flat with just a simple concave. If it does not have a kick and if the concave isn’t higher than 7mm.

Yes, if the deck is mostly flat with just a simple concave. If it does not have a kick and if the concave isn’t higher than 7mm.
Can I print on a complete skateboard deck using 2HEX’ Ink2Product UV Flatbed Printer?
2HEX’ Ink2Product UV HX-2 Pro Printhead can print over the full width of a skateboard deck, but not the full length. The distance from the print head to the skateboard deck must not exceed 7mm. Therefore, the last half of nose and tail cannot be printed on.
Other frequently asked questions regarding printing on skateboard heat transfers.
Why do I need to use a spray-gun? Can’t I just fill the white transfer ink into the printer?
The white transfer ink is too thick to be printed. Therefore, we suggest using a spray gun. A wall roller can be used too but it creates a bit of a texture compared to a spray gun.
Is this UV DTF ink?
Our ink and printer are not comparable to DTF. DTF ink can easily be peeled off. The Ink2Product printer and ink create a print that feels and is as durable as screen printed designs or traditional screen printed heat transfers.
How do I transfer the heat transfers I printed on skateboard decks?
Ink2Product printed heat transfers, just like traditional skateboard heat transfers, must be transferred under high pressure and at around 200’C for the ink to strongly bond with the varnished wood of skateboard decks. This is best done with 2HEX’ heat transfer machine, like for example the model 11SBHTP-21.

2HEX Ink2Product UV Flatbed printer has two print heads with different maximum printing distances between the print head and the product.
